John MacArthur at Victoria International JazzFest John MacArthur is better known for his masterful performances at jazz venues in and around his hometown - Victoria, British Columbia and is also recognized in local music history as a key member of several iconic musical groups.

 

At thirteen, John joined the Esquires -one of Victoria’s first rock and roll bands. They won ”Vancouver Island Battle of the Bands” -a popular event during the 60s.

 

Teen Beats

By age sixteen, he was playing in David Foster’s first rock & roll band, Teen Beats.

 

In 2008, John MacArthur was inducted to the Victoria Music Hall of Fame!

 

The MotifsThroughout the 60s and 70s John MacArthur played in a succession of groups including: The Motifs, Amor de Cosmos, and Velvet Brass.

John toured the South Pacific Islands with Party of Four.

Other musical bands that include him are: Twango, Karmel Sutra, Hot Rod Lincoln, Davey’s Gang, and The Weeds.

In 2008, John MacArthur was inducted into the Victoria Music Hall of Fame for "Most Influential Band (1960-1965)" as a member of the Motifs.

John's guitar stylings are appreciated around the globe. Each year, John performs with Melinda Whittaker in Costa Rica.
